How does a subscription to one of the newsletters (Running Research News, Cycling Research News, Swimming Research News, or Weight-Loss Research) actually work? You begin a new subscription by providing your credit-card information and creating an account for yourself; your e-mail address will be your username, and you can create your own password. Once your credit card is approved (this should only take a moment), you may go to the log-in section of our site (on the home page) and utilize your username and password to log in. You will then be taken to a page from which you can download the most-current issue of the relevant newsletter(s). Each time a new edition becomes available, you will automatically receive an e-mail notice indicating that a new issue is ready for you to download. You will then simply follow the same procedure – logging in with your username and password to read the new edition. In the event you permit your subscription to expire, you will be able to download all of the past issues of your subscription term. However, should you elect to renew your subscription, you will not be able to pick-up where the previous subscription ended. Any issues missed during the lapse in the subscription will need to be purchased as back issues.
How many issues are there in a one-year subscription? A one-year subscription includes 10 issues (the January-February and June-July editions of each newsletter are combined newsletters).
If I subscribe to Running Research News , will I receive discounts on subscriptions to other newsletters? Yes, once you begin an active subscription to Running Research News (and keep it current), your subscriptions to Cycling Research News and Swimming Research News are available to you at half-price – just $17.50 each. Subscriptions to Weight-Loss Research can not be discounted, however. If you intend to subscribe to Running Research News and Cycling Research News/Swimming Research News , please subscribe to Running Research News first . That way, you will be sure to get your half-price discount.
Do I receive advance notices concerning when my subscription will expire? Yes, each time you receive an e-mail notification indicating that a new issue is ready for you to download and read, your account will be updated to let you know how many issues are left in your subscription.
How do I get access to your e-book? Once you have ordered the e-book, you will be able to log in to your account and download the e-book one time . You should then save the e-book as a file on your computer (with back-up on a storage device) and print the book, as desired. Multiple downloads of the book are not permitted. If you do not have an existing account when you order the e-book (i. e., you are not a current subscriber to one of the newsletters), you will be given a username and password which can be utilized to download the e-book.
What is the difference between your Weekly Training Update and the newsletters? The newsletters are available by subscription only; they contain fully developed articles with practical information about training and full updates on the latest scientific research about exercise. The Weekly Update is free and is usually sent out to recipients at the end of each week. Each Update contains somewhat-brief-but-important information about training, with highly motivational messages as well as tips on how to perform workouts correctly. The Update also features hot, breaking news from the worlds of running, cycling, and swimming, including very recent scientific developments in these areas.
Do you offer personal coaching? Yes, coaching is available via e-mail for $300/month. This service includes a complete schedule of strengthening and running workouts, usually sent to you in two- to three-week increments, plus interactive e-mail correspondence with Owen Anderson, Ph. D., about your program. There is usually a waiting list for this service.
What is your running camp like? Our running camp is the only camp in the world which offers a complete program of running-specific strength training. The camp has two sessions each summer and takes place in a beautiful setting – Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. The camp is both highly educational and extremely enjoyable; each attendee learns how to put together an optimal training program and enjoys incredible runs on beautiful trails in the Santa Monica Mountains and on Malibu’s fabled beaches. Each camper receives personal attention from Dr. Owen Anderson, and there are opportunities for sightseeing in the Los-Angeles area, including a "night out on the town" on Saturday evening.
